Are you currently studying for a bachelor degree in horticulture, animal husbandry, agribusiness or food business, or do you have a proven affinity with any of these fields? Are you interested in learning more about International Agribusiness, and European food supply chains in particular?

This new minor in International Agribusiness will give you new insights into how agribusiness works in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland.

About this minor

This minor will be given jointly by the University of Applied Sciences, Osnabrück, Germany, Poznan University of Life Sciences, Poland, and HAS University of Applied Sciences, Venlo, the Netherlands. You will join an international group of students with whom you will spend 3 weeks in each country.

This will give you an unforgettable experience, during which you will study and socialise together, sharing knowledge of each other's country, and making new friends at the same time.

 

Learning goals

  • Student will gain knowledge about entrepreneurship in foreign countries and the influence of the political and economic environment
  • Student will develop more feeling and understanding of the importance and position of the EU in accommodating a more level playing field and a common marketplace
  • Student will develop more understanding of Holland, German and Polish agriculture, business and culture
  • Student will experience cultural differences and intercultural communication
  • Student will be able to write, communicate and cooperate in English

HAS University of Applied Sciences, part 1

  • Student is able to explore the possibilities and problems In internationalization of a company
  • Student will learn how to run a project and work with different cultures together


Osnabruck University, part 2

  • Student will be able to evaluate quality systems
  • Student will be able to participate in marketing research and as a part of that in sensory research


Poznan University, part 3

  • Student understands basic natural processes and phenomena in agribusiness
  • Student knows the basic rules of health and safety at work and the rules of ergonomics
  • demonstrates the ability to come to correct conclusions based on the data coming from various sources
  • demonstrates the ability to make a critical analysis and select information

Entry requirements

For students in the Netherlands: To participate in this minor, you must have successfully completed the propaedeutic phase of your study programme and have earned at least 40 ECTS during your 2nd year.

In addition, you should have a knowledge of and affinity with agriculture or food production.
